The Monterey Off Road Cycling Association (MORCA) a chapter of the International Mountain Bicycling Association (IMBA) is hosting Take a Kid Mountain Biking day on Saturday, October 3rd.
This is a great opportunity to pass your passion for pedalling on to kids.
If you are interested in volunteering to help make this a successful event,
we need your help!!!
Volunteer opportunities include:
Stuff the Goody Bags-get-together - Meet Monday September 28th at 7 PM (location TBD) to pre-load the give away bags for the event.
Grocery Shoppers - We'll provide you a list and then you can head out and shop Thursday or Friday before the event to pick up the eats.
Friday Skills course set up - Meet the day before and help load/unload and set up the pre-built structures for the kids Mountain Bike Skills Course and mark the trails for the group rides.
Saturday Event set up - Do any final set-up of the skills course and trail marking plus set up the registration tent and signage.
First Aid Station - Staff the first aid tent and evaluate owies, boo boos and hand out band aids as needed.
Registration sign in - Greet families and make sure they fill out a waiver and provide information about what is going on.
Bike Safety Station - Check helmet fit and inspect bicycle for safety (tires properly inflated, seat, handlebars not loose, brakes working properly and a visual check of the frame).
Skills course safety marshalling - Help direct traffic at the skills course, make sure everyone is wearing helmets and in general help keep the event safe.
Skills Clinics - Help demonstrate proper bike handling skills and assist instructor as needed.
Leader/Sweep for easy ride - Lead or sweep the kids ride making sure it proceeds at an appropriate pace. Should help with the course set up and will carry a first aid kit.
Leader/Sweep for harder ride - Lead or sweep the kids ride making sure it proceeds at an appropriate pace. Should help with the course set up and will carry a first aid kit.
BBQ Master and assistant - Set up the Barbecue, food and drink and grill baby grill.
Event Tear Down/Clean up - Take everything down and leave no trace we were there.
Compensation for your time will be good will for helping youth enjoy Mountain Biking and being active in the out of doors. In addition you will be served (or will be serving) lunch.
The first 20 people to sign up(volunteer) will receive free parking at Toro Park for the event.
