A New Mountain Biker... Night Rider Reflects...

What a great ride tonight! I got to test out my new lights, and see what it's like to hit the trails in the dark. There were so many people on this ride, it was great to see everyone join in on the fun.
Since it was my first ride, and I'm still finding my way around the trails, I went with the "C" group. I am so thankful that Gary, Ellie, and Jim rode with me, they were great coaches and very encouraging. Jim kept saying "good, good", and that helped me make it up the hills, with a stop to catch my breath here and there. Now I know what to work on during the day, and plan on getting on the trails more often. I don't know where we went, the others will have to give a recap.
I encourage everyone to get out and join in on the night rides. We were above the fog and had an awesome view of the moon and stars. This group is so good about making sure I was doing okay, provided support the whole ride, and were very encouraging, even when I had to slow down my pace. It felt good to push my body to the limit, and it helped me realize what I need to do to build my strength and stamina. I'd say the only disappointment of the night was no BBQ in the parking lot at the end of the ride, but that was due to technical difficulties!
Can't wait to do it again!
