24 Hours of Adrenalin MORCA Results

The 24 Hours of Adrenalin was held June 6th and 7th!

What a pleasure this race was, with minimal wind, clear skies and lovely sunsets casting a warm glow on Mount Toro as a (nearly) full moon was rising. I got to ride the 3 AM-to-4AM lap, and what a cool thing to be on the trails at that time of night, with the full moon casting a shadow going up Hurl Hill and guiding me up The Grind (didn't even need lights). Our campsite had an awesome view of the riders leaving Laguna Seca, then jamming along the ridge into Couch Canyon and making their way up toward Hurl Hill.

Huge Shout-outs to Jason and Peter, our co-captains, who figured out schedules, got people down to the volunteer station, provided a keg for all, rode three blistering laps, and volunteered their 4-hour shifts, and barely slept.

Kudos to all the guys who rode 3 laps and volunteered 4 hours.

Props to Ken, who rode his bike from Carmel Valley over Los Laureles Grade and back, in order to volunteer the midnight to 4 AM shift. He had home obligations both days, so he put in his MORCA time at night.

As things worked out, it was fitting that Peter enjoyed a nice dusk lap, the dawn lap (it was light at 5:30 AM!), and the very last lap that secured our 4th place position. Hurray to Darius, who got back before 12 noon, so Peter could take advantage of the bonus hour.

MORCA riders were awesome! I think nearly all laps were well under 1 hour. I think we did 27 laps total (not sure). Woohoo!

THANKS to all the volunteers who did not ride, which enabled people like me to just ride, and hang out and enjoy a great weekend.

THANKS to friends and family who came by with food, comfort and good conversation.

And of course, let's not forget ANTONE the sand gnome, who was on his best behavior this weekend. He adorned our picnic table and must have been too busy enjoying the campsite vibe to cause any trouble.

Pix from various folks coming soon.
